Ye Ole Switcheroo! Finally

CHAPTER 8

Luke

The market was even more crowded than I imagined. I decided to buy a cloak thing that covered my hair and hid my face so no one would notice me. I could not stop asking Lionidus, Lio (pronounced Leo), questions about him and his father. I could not believe that I was being shown around by a legend, one who shared blood with the great Leonardo Da Vinci.

“Yes, my sir, for the millionth time, my father just had a child by the name of Leonardo. My sister told us.”

He grabbed an apple from a cart and put it in his bag. He kept looking around the stand for different fruits, all shapes and sizes. I decided to take a small tour so I asked him where the nearest restroom was.

“Sir, do thou mean the outhouse?”

I nodded and thanked him for correcting me. I was still learning how to speak properly. He pointed down the road.

“Make a left at the tavern. It is right there.”

      “Thanks, Lio.”

He smiled and continued looking. I ventured off to start my real tour. I hid everything so that only my eyes were showing. I looked around and was truly immersed in culture. There were jesters around every corner and painters everywhere else. The men were in pantaloons and the woman wore true dresses, headdresses and all. My mind was spinning and I was so focused on the culture that I accidently knocked over a man with a cart. I got up and helped him up. He looked about 60 and had a kind face.

“My dear son, watch where thou are going, I beg of thee.”

I nodded and bowed. I picked up a fruit that he dropped. He grabbed it and juggled it in his hand.

      “Hahaha. A handsome gentleman?”

I touched my face and realized that my cloak had come off. It had fallen off about 10 meters behind the man. I covered my face with my sleeve, bowed my head, and walked away as quickly as I could. I bumped into someone and looked up to see who it was. He looked like a soldier, covered head to toe in all black and of average height, looked about 5’8. He had his black hair pulled back into a ponytail and his eyes were the color of mine, well I guess Seth’s now. I nodded and continued on but I could feel his eyes on me. I came to the spot that I had seen the cloak but it wasn’t anywhere. I got on the floor and started to look when I heard laughter behind me. I got up to see the guy with the face holding a cloak, laughing. I got up and rolled my eyes.

      “Thanks.”

I went to grab it but he brought it closer. I didn’t really know how to operate a body as strong as Seth’s but I gave it a try. I went to punch him but before I knew it he had disappeared. I looked everywhere but I couldn’t see him anywhere. Exasperated and a little over my tour, I decided to head back to Lio. On my way, I can not even explain how annoyed I was; everywhere I turned, everywhere I stepped, the woman were looking at me with lust and the men with envy and hatred. I looked down but it didn’t really work out. Someone knocked me over and when I looked up to see who it was, I was relieved.

      “Hello, brother.”

I smiled and Seth helped me up, smiling and laughing inside, I’m sure. I was dusting off my pants when Seth elbowed me in the gut.

      “Hey, what’s the big…”

I looked ahead and saw the crowd splitting to each side and a horse drawn carriage approaching. I was all red with gold trimmings drawn by white horse. My jaw dropped as I saw that one of the men surrounding the carriage was none other than the face. When he caught me peering at him, he smiled and pointed to the driver of the carriage. I looked and almost attacked this soldier with the weird eyes. He was wearing my cloak, that I (well, Lio) bought. I rolled my eyes and continued looking forward. The carriage came to a stop about 5 feet from where we were standing. One of the soldiers came to open the door to whoever was getting out. A shoe that looked to be made of gold stepped out, followed by the queen. Everyone bowed on one knee and Seth and I copied their stances. We could hear the clicking of the heels as she came closer and closer to us. I looked up just as she stopped in front of me.

      “Hello. Rise boy.”

I stood up and looked her straight in the eye.

      “Milady.”

She laughed and faced the crowd.

“Nothing to see here. Just a queen showing her husband’s two new pets some courtesy.”

The people went on going about there day and the queen turned back to Seth, who had finally gotten up, and me.

“My dear sirs, in honor of my daughter’s 17th ceremony of birth, the king is throwing a ball in which the princess will choose a suitor fit for her liking. Thou along with thou brother is invited to try and win the hand of our daughter, the fairest in the land. My suggestion is bring a lady on thou arm, to show the princess how suitable a man thou are.”

She curtsied but I wasn’t really paying attention. The princess? The gorgeous girl from the meadow who I shared a non-moment with? Ashley popped in my head, blonde hair and full lips. I smiled but not about Ashley, because her face disappeared and in popped the princess’s. I focused on what was in front of me. The queen was staring at me and smiling. I looked towards Seth and mouthed, What do I do?  He shrugged and kept looking ahead. I smiled and started to walk away but the queen caught my arm. I turned to face her and she whistled a guard forward.

“KYLE!”

The man who had taken my cloak came forward and smiled at me before turning to the queen. I rolled my eyes; this guy had to be taken down a notch or two.

“Kyle, I need you to give this man…”

She pointed to me and smiled.

“… directions to my chambers tonight. We have matters of life and death to discuss.”

He bowed and with that the queen left, leaving Seth, Kyle, and me dumbfounded. Next thing I know Seth and Kyle start laughing out of no where and I frown.

      “What’s so funny?”

Seth turns to me and puts his hand on my shoulder.

“Dude, you’re going to lay the queen tonight.”

Kyle suddenly straightened out and looked at him. He furrowed his eyebrows as if in deep concentration and then shook his head.

“Sirs, I am Kyle, personal guard to milady the queen. She trusts me with her life as should thou.”

I peered at him through slits.

“Thou expecteth me to trust thee even though thou stole my cloak?”

He eyes lit up at the sound of the cloak and he laughed. Seth looked at me and raised an eyebrow. I pointed to Kyle.

“This guy stole a cloak that I was using to cover my face.”

I know I sounded like a five year complaining about getting his ball stolen but this guy Kyle was trouble and I knew it from the minute he bumped into me. I crossed my arms and Seth looked incredulously at Kyle. Kyle just shrugged.

“Cloaks are for thieves. I was just looking out for the queen.”

      “See, drama king, problem solved.”

I rolled my eyes and started to walk away. I had no time for these fools. I needed to find Lio. Speaking of Lio, where was Seth’s tour guide? I didn’t care. I heard steps behind me and I already knew that it was Seth and Kyle. I could hear them laughing and talking as we made our way through the crowds, me getting my usual stares. I tried to remember where I had left Lio but I came up blank. Everything looked the same and I soon became overwhelmed. I stopped short and Kyle bumped into me, ha! Good for him. I turned around and faced the fools. Apparently, in their two seconds of knowing each other they had become the best of friends. I rolled my eyes.

“I lost my guide. I need to find him.”

Kyle glared at me and rolled his eyes back.

“There is no time. We mustn’t wait to get thou ready. We need to make thou presentable for the queen. One does not just show up in the chambers of our lady the queen looking like that.”

I shrugged. Why would the queen need to see me anyway? Realization suddenly hit me like a slap in the face. She wanted me, as in wanted me. I gulped and Seth must have seen the fear in my eyes because his smile grew. I was about to tell him to stop smiling when I saw something shining out of the corner of my eye. I turned my eyes toward something that was rested on the belt of Kyle. I would recognize that deep blue of the ocean anywhere, I looked at the ruby and the symbols surrounding the reddest of all rubies. I could not stop staring. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a hand waving. I shook my head and turned to Seth and Kyle, both confused by my blank stare. Seth raised his eyebrows.

      “What’s wrong?”

I looked at my brother and wondered if I should tell him. After all, he was my brother and we had loved each other once. I knew how much he missed Leslie and Ms. C. Unlike me, my brother has always needed female companionship, probably because of how our mother treated him, cold and distant. I opened my mouth to speak just as her face came into my head. Her mahogany hair would haunt my dreams and her lips would tear at my mind. I had to get to know her. I didn’t know many things about this new life but I knew one thing: I never felt the need to know someone as much as I wanted to know Princess Dionasis. I patted my brother on the shoulder and smiled.

      “Nothing brother, nothing at all.”

Seth

I’m pretty sure that my brother had finally lost it. He was looking at me and smiling like a retard. I smiled back and he turned around to keep looking for his guide. That’s finny that he actually cares about the little runt. I continued after him, side by side with Kyle. Kyle was a pretty cool guy once I got to know him and he was funny. He, unfortunately, wasn’t the best looking though. If he had gone to school with Luke and me, he would’ve hung out with Luke.

      “So, thou haveth a sister?”

He nodded. In the short 10 minutes we had been walking, he was telling me about his family. He had a weird voice, almost like he was forcing himself to sound normal and deep.

“Yes, sir, I do. She is quite well known around the kingdom, although not for good.”

I raised an eyebrow and he laughed. His laugh sent shivers up my spine almost like the laugh of…never mind.

“She is the unofficial town whore, sir.”

I gaped at him but he didn’t seem to notice. He looked like he was actually proud of it, proud of his sister being a whore.

“Oh, well then, can I meet her?”

I winked at him and he laughed. For some odd reason, it was actually easy to talk to him but then again I had always been a people person. It was Luke who hated people, probably because most people thought he was weird. I looked at Luke walk in my body with his head down and fiddling with his fingers. He didn’t even notice the woman staring at him. I felt a sharp pain in my heart. I wonder what would have happened if he listened when I tried to explain to him about what happened in third grade with Linda Carmichael. I wondered if we would have still been inseparable and best friends. I smiled and I felt a nudge from Kyle.

      “Thinking about my sister?”

I smiled and nodded.

      “Of course.”

He laughed and we continued walking in talking for about another 10 minutes.

      “Thou are a virgin?”

Kyle shrugged and took an apple off a cart. He took a bite and the apple juice squirted in his eye. I let out a loud laugh and Luke turned around. Once he understood what was happening he let out a laugh, too. We continued to laugh until Kyle cleaned out his eye. He scowled at us with his one good eye and his other red.

      “What…”

“Brother, are these men bothering thee?”

Luke and I turned around to see who that very familiar voice was coming from. My jaw almost dropped as I saw the lady who had bumped in Luke at the market stand before us. She was as hot as I remembered. Luke furrowed his eyebrows as if trying to remember where he saw her from. She walked over to Seth and held his chin in between her fingers.

“Thou looketh fine, although, thine eye looks as red as a ruby.”

He pulled his face away and walked in between Luke and I.

“Sister, I am a guard of the queen now. I can protect myself.”

She shrugged her shoulders and walked over to where we were standing. Her hazel eyes peered at her brother before focusing on Luke. Her smirk transformed into a full grown smile. She extended her hand and he just looked at it, befuddled. I rolled my eyes.

      “Kiss it, fool.”

He nodded and brought it to his lips. She closed her eyes as he kissed it, almost as if getting a silent satisfaction out of the feel of his lips. I laughed and she looked daggers at me. She furrowed her eyebrows and puckered her face. I winked at her and she rolled her eyes before looking back at Luke.

      “Lady Jannel, was it?”

She smiled as Luke said her name and nodded.

      “Thou remember, how incredibly attractive.”

I laughed and she turned to me.

      “What makes thou laugh, fool?”

I looked at her and moved closer, but she didn’t move away, probably curious as to what I was going to do. I caught a hair that fell down her face and smiled at her. She sucked in a breath and I smiled larger, I missed having this affect on woman. I laid my hand on her hip and traced it up to her arm. I leaned in close to her ear so that I could smell her apple shampoo.

“I can remember every curve of a woman’s body with just one touch.”

She let out a groan and I laid a kiss on her ear.

“Maybe I picked the wrong brother.”

I laughed and pulled away, taking my place next to Kyle. I saw him smirking next to me.

“Brother, sister? I think thou have picked the wrong blood line.”

She turned to her brother and smiled.

      “Jealous brother?”

He threw his hand on his heart and the other on his forehead.

      “Terribly.”

I smirked. She waved her hand at us and told us goodbye. Once she was out of sight I turned to Kyle. He was looking daggers at me and I furrowed my eyebrows.

      “What?”

“Thou are just like every other man in this kingdom.”

“You said that she was available. I miss companionship.”

He body went stiff and he straightened his back. He furrowed his eyebrows and looked back and forth between Luke and me.

      “What did thou say?”

“I am just repeating what you said. I mean…”

“No did thou just say, ‘you’”

I gulped. Shit. I had forgotten where we were. I peeked at Luke, who looked paper white.

“I think that thou are hearing things.”

Suddenly he grabbed Luke and me by the elbows and hauled us to through the numerous shops. I tried to squirm out of his grip but he was surprisingly strong. I looked at Luke but he seemed to be in another world. He dragged us through the crowd, no one noticing that he was dragging us by force. He finally got back into the inner kingdom where Jessie had taken us to talk to the king. He looked like he was taking us back to the throne room but right before we got there, he made a sharp turn right. I laughed because there was nothing the way he was going, just a brick wall. He finally let us go and I rubbed my elbow.

“Yup, that is definitely going to bruise.”

      “Shut up.”

I put my hands up as if to surrender. I saw Kyle look around as if to make sure no one was watching. Seeming satisfied, he reached out and drew back the brick wall as if it were a curtain. He opened it and dragged us in. It was completely dark and silent, minus the rats I heard scurrying around. Luke continued to walk ahead, almost as if he was expecting a superhero at the end of the tunnel or Ashley. I saw a light up ahead and rushed towards it. When I finally got to the end and stared open mouthed at the patch of land. I got to the floor and rubbed my face in it. I was starting to worry that there was no nature in this place, I loved nature. I was enjoying the grass when I felt something poke me in the back. I turned around to see Kyle holding a sword straight at my back. I held up my hands and got up. He moved the sword toward Luke, who was looking at the tunnel, as if he was expecting someone to pop out. Finally back in reality, Luke looked at the sword and gulped. Kyle broke the tension.

“How did you guys find us?”

I arched my eyebrows. What was this guy talking about?

“Uhm, we have no idea what thou speaketh of.”

He rolled his eyes.

“Stop playing coy with me. I know what you idiots are and what you want but you cant have it. I have sworn to protect it and I will.”

He stared daggers at us and realized his sword higher and l looked at it. My mouth dropped as I saw the red gem in the center of a sword so rare it had to be the one who got us here in the first place. I took a step towasds him but he didn’t budge.

“Tell me, do you monsters enjoy dying?”

I shook my head.

      “You have it all wrong.”

I slapped my forehead. I said “you” again. He laughed.

“Even you well trained ones cannot fit in with society.”

      “Kyle, let me explain…”

“Save it. I am tired of you monsters tracking us down. I want to live in peace and you must die for that to happen.”

      “What are thou talking of?”

He looked at me with eyes full of hate. I had no idea what he was talking about. I looked over to Luke before Kyle pushed me to the ground. I saw Luke start towards me.

“Come closer and I will kill him.”

He stopped and looked at me with his eyes pleading.

“Why are you doing this? What did we do to you?”

Kyle’s laugh sounded throughout the little meadow, even echoing down the tunnel.

“What have you done? You mean other than make my life a living hell?”

I tried to get up but his foot was crushing my back. I had no way to escape and I finally gave up trying. Luke spoke up.

“Listen, just hurt me or whatever just let Seth go.”

“NO! Do whatever you want to me but leave Luke alone.”

Kyle laughed again, each time creepier than the last.

“Monsters with hearts or really good actors. And to answer your questions, no, to both of you, I will take care of you first.”

He pointed to my head with his sword. I closed my eyes and thought about my life. I was going to miss Ms.C and Leslie but the suckiest thing is that I hadn’t found love. I had found lust many of times but never full blown love, love that made your heart beat ten times faster when the person is near and the kind that will make you go crazy and angry but end up patching things up with word rather than sex. I laughed. I guess dying makes people gay. Kyle kicked me and I waited for the final  killing punch but it never came.

“Stop! Kyle, don’t. They aren’t what you think they are.”

I opened my eyes and saw auburn hair running towards us before black engulfed everything around me.

The Horror!!!

Okay, so maybe the title was a little melodramatic but still, I AM ASHAMED! I didnt post a book review yesterday. Ah, sigh. So my book of the day is called Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout (I know, what a mouthful). This book is a four star rating! I suggest it as a must read of the season. It is the first book in what is an amazing series. In case you havent noticed, I get really excited about reading. This book gave me goose bumps and mafe my skin crawl. I absolutely love it. It was action packed with a hint of romance. I absolutely love it. Here is a little summary for those I've caught the attention of.

She was just a normal girl, one who had lost someone near and dear to her heart, someone who she thought she would die without, someone who meant her world, and someone who's death made her mother pack her up and leave their home to live in the middle of nowhere. That someone was her dad. She thought that nothing good could come of death, but she was mistaken. This town was dark and mysterious. It's population was as big as her last high school and student's were disappearing all the time, for no reason, until she learned a secret that would change her life. Daemon was as infruiating as any male could be but made up for it by his looks for he was drop-dead gorgeous. She couldn't stand him but his sister was a different story. Just as gorgeous, she was sweet where Daemon was a jerk and smiled where Daemon always had a frown plastered to his face. They were twins but they couldn't be more different.

That is all my sweets but I am telling you it gets better. And listen closely, I am about to tell you something that will make you gasp and shout at the same time. Are you ready? This amazing book........................................has NO werewolves or vampires! Have fun with the twins from another world......OH NO, I'VE SAID TOO MUCH ;)

Okay, so maybe everyday.

Sorry but I just think that people should be able to trust my blog and for that I will post a review everyday but I will also post my books, don't worry ;). So my next book to review is book two from the infernal devices. I won't say anything about this book except this, WOW! This is literally the best book I have ever read and I have read alot of books. It is action-packed and for those romance lovers, it has alot of that ;). I am warning you though, read the first book before you read this. The first book is called Clockwork Angel. You need the first book so you can build up a hatred towards a certain character (cough cough Will) and then this book will (no pun intended.......hmmm....maybe a little one) crush those hatred feelings.  I love Will and Jem and.......oh this book will leave you so conflicted. Trust me with this one and read it. I give it a five star rating! So snuggle up in that bed any prepare to never sleep the whole time you are reading this, those readaholics know what I'm talking about.

Infernal Devices Series:
Clockwork Angel (Four and a half stars)
Clockwork Prince (Five Stars)
Clockwork Princess (Has not been released)

Testing?

I was thinking of reviewing books. Not everyday but you know, every once in awhile. Starting now. My favorite series is Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare. It is absolutely fantastic. Today I will be reviewing book number uno of the series: Clockwork Angel. I give it four and a half stars. It's about this girl named Tessa who got a letter from her brother in London to come but when she gets there she gets pretty much abducted by these two evil sisters. She finds out that she has this pretty awesome power and this evil guy wants to use he for his benefit. It's pretty gross, tbh, because he wants to marry her, blech! So anyway she escapes with help from this guy, who is so beyond gorgeous. He turns out to be a shadowhunter, which are kind of like humans except they are way better, like more advanced. They are faster, stronger, and (SUPRISE!) fight demons and underworlders (i.e. werewolves and real vampires, no sparkles allowed!). So she meets alot of people along the way and she realizes alot about herself and her brother. Before, you lovers of romance novels turn your head around and say, "Yeah, not gonna happen. No love.", WAIT! There is love. It makes you melt and then hate the guy for being a big douche but you will get over once you read book number two, which you will because then you'll be hooked. I suggest it highly. The reason for that half star deduction is this, book two was better and that was a five star. So this book is a go. Have at it and tell me what you think. Thanks :)

YE OLE SWITCHEROO

CHAPTER SEVEN

Luke

We walked out of the throne room and the two boys led us out into the square. They stopped and turned to us. One boy had what looked like white hair, it was so blonde. He was the one that was facing me and staring at me. He looked about Jessie’s age. He was short and lanky, even skinnier than I used to be. He had blue eyes, unlike the eyes of the boy next to him; the boy who was facing Seth. He had black hair like I used to and black eyes. He, on the other hand, was tall and looked like he was our age. He even towered over me a little, which was surprising. The blue-eyed one spoke first, peering at me as he did.

“Our job is to show thee and thy brother around. I will take thee and my brother will take Sir Seth.”

I nodded and turned to Seth.

      “See thee later, brother.’’

Seth nodded and extended his hand. I shook it and the tall boy led him away, towards the main square where all the people were. I looked after him until his disappeared among the people. I turned to the small boy.

      “That is thee brother?”

The boy nodded, his eyes were so huge that they looked as if they could belong to a fly.

“No offense, but thou does not have the same features as him, at all.”

The boy nodded again but this time he spoke.

“Yes, well, he is my older brother by five years.”

      “How old are thou?”

“I just had my 11th ceremony of birth.”

I nodded. So he was 11. He started to lead me where his brother took Seth but I stopped. Just because I was in Seth’s body, didn’t mean that I had his confidence. The boy came back to where I was standing when he realized that I wasn’t following him.

      “Sir, are thou well?”

I nodded.

“Is there any way that thou can lead me down a less, uhm, populated pathway?”

The boy looked behind and let out a chuckle.

      “Are thou shy, sir?”

I shrugged and the boy started to laugh.

“Thou, of all people, have nothing to be shy about.”

I scowled at him and he finally stopped laughing. He motioned for me to follow him through a tunnel off to the side, right before the square starts. We walked in there for five minutes before we actually saw daylight. There was grass all around and one tall tree in the center. There was a huge wall all around the meadow, except for where the tunnel was. He walked over and sat down; I followed after him.

      “What is this place?”

“The one place that the glorious king has not destroyed. Beyond these walls lies the outside of his kingdom.”

I looked up. The walls were tall and made of gray stone, just like in the history books.

“Why has he left this part alone? Why not build something here?”

“Because of his daughter, she ventures here every day and sits to read.”

“Is it not illegal for woman to read?”

He nodded and laughed. He started to play with a patch of grass and we just sat in silence for while; which let me think. I started to think about Ashley. I missed her so much and I loved her but I was starting to wonder if my love was real. I remember feeling electricity every time we touched, but she was the only one I had ever been with. Truth be told, nothing happened that night, except a few make-out sessions. We only wanted Seth to believe that to get him angry that I got what he wanted, for once. I really did love her, though. Every time I think about her it hurts but I can’t pass up a chance to be surrounded by so much culture and art. I was just going to have to forget about her. I closed my eyes and let the feel of the wind slap my face.

“Why are thou always taking strange commoners to my peace center, brother?”

I look up to see a girl walking towards us, dressed in a blue dress with black lace around it. She had auburn hair that was in a long braid behind her back. She came to sit by us. Her eyes were large, just as the boy’s but gray like a mist. Her lips were plump and pink. She had high cheekbones and freckles on her cheeks, which were pink almost as if she had been running. She looked like an angel. The boy spoke.

“Do not call me that, thou knowest what the king would do if commoners found out of his wife’s indecency.”

She rolled her eyes and pulled out a scroll from her, uhm, yeah.

“Let the king whine, he will not hurt me, I am his only heir.”

I kept staring, yet she had not looked at me once.

“Look, I found a new scroll tucked in thy father’s library. Read it to me, brother.”

He shook his head and stood up.

“I must show mother’s new obsession around.”

She finally looked at me. She stood up and extended her hand.

“I am Princess Dionasis and thou art?”

I was frozen in place. I had never been good at talking to girls, especially beautiful ones. The boy looked at me and turned to his sister.

      “Thou are intimidating, princess.”

She took back her hand and laughed.

“Thou are the first not to accept my hand and for that I am grateful.”

A bell chimed and Dionasis’ eyes got wide.

“Oh, father is going to kill me.”

She bowed to me and messed up the boys’ hair.

“See thee around, little brother and thou also, Sir Quiet.”

She picked up her dress and ran into the tunnel. I hadn’t realized that I was holding my breath until I let it go as she disappeared down the tunnel. The boy sat down again and this time he lay on his back, his head on his arms. I turned to him.

      “Thou are royalty?”

He sat up and motioned for me to sit next to him.

“My sister does not know how to keep her mouth quiet.”

He sighed and continued.

“My mother is the queen of England but my father is a lowly artist, not a very respectable trait. He is a handsome man, not far from thee and he was too much a temptation for my mother. She lay with him and through their multiple indecencies; my brother and I were conceived. My father was not punished but my brother and I were taken from him, sent to work in the castle for the king forever.”

He looked sad as he told me the story of how his father was thought lowly of in this kingdom and how he was ashamed of his mother. He laughed as he told me that his sister was born only one year after his older brother and how she would always try to get both boys to play girlish games with her when they were younger.

“My sister and brother are the only ones I have left, that I am allowed to see and I would do anything for them.”

I nodded and started to think about his sister. He looked at me and started to chuckle.

“Thou gazed upon my sister like every man in the kingdom does, with lust but I must warn thee; do not try and be her suitor.”

I nodded.

      “Because of the king?”

He shook his head.

“The king is the least of thou worries.”

He got up before I could ask him what he meant. He dusted himself off and started to walk towards the tunnel. I followed after him.

      “Where are we going?”

“Outside of the castle walls, the market.”

I gulped. I was guessing that the square was nothing compared to the market, people wise.

“So, what is thou name, boy?”

He turned to face me and I looked down on his blue eyes.

“No one must know my true name, thou may call me peasant.”

“Why does everyone tell me that? I want to know thou true name.”

He looked side to side, as if anyone would come into a tunnel that led to nothing.

“My name is Lionidus da Vinci, son of Ser Piero.”

Seth

This place was getting better and better. First, the king likes me; then, ii ditch the guy who is supposed to be showing me around. I didn’t mind him but I just wanted to look around myself. I actually lost him on accident. I walk through what they call the square and am amazed. There are so many people, all related or working for the king. I walk around and see a door, almost like the one that lead into the throne room. I open it and call inside.

      “Hello? Anyone here?”

No one answers so I walk in. It is a simple, small room filled with canvases and bookshelves. I go to look at the paintings and am amazed at what I see. One has an ocean, perfectly crafted with the horizon bursting with colors and the shadow of the sun amazingly depicted. I reach out my hand to it when I hear a clatter behind me.

      “Oh, confound it all!”

I turn around and see an man that looks to be about 30, dressed in a robe. He has grayish black hair and a five o’clock shadow. He is covered in yellow paint and trying to clean himself off. He looks at me and I realize that he looks a lot like the little boy who took Luke on his tour.

“Well, are thou going to lend a hand or stand there like a fool?”

I rolled my eyes and went over to help. He handed me his coat and told me to hang it on a chair across the room. I do and then join him at a small table in the middle of the room.

      “Who art thou?”

“I should ask thee the same.”

He crosses his arms and leans back.

      “Thou have a sharp tongue.”

I nodded and smiled. He laughed.

“I am Ser Piero, an artist. Perhaps thou have heard of my work.”

I shook my head and he chuckled.

“I though not. Truth be told, I am not very respected around this kingdom but I do not believe I have seen thee before.”

“My brother and I just ventured here.”

He nodded.

      “Do thou like the arts?”

I shook my head and laughed.

“Not I but my brother loves the arts and he adores reading.”

He nodded his head and rubbed his chin.

“Does thou brother need a teacher? I have but one student and she is not supposed to be.”

I shrugged.

“Next time I see him, I shall ask.”

I heard the door open behind me and Ser Piero looked up and smiled. He scraped his chair against the floor and went to greet whoever was at the door. I heard soft footsteps and I saw a small shadow come up behind me. Ser Piero extended his arms and told whoever it was to sit. I heard two chairs scrape against the floor but I didn’t look up from staring at the table. I could feel their gazes on me but I didn’t budge. I was tired of meeting people. Ser Piero cleared his throat and spoke.

“Dionasis meet this stanger who I found venturing in my chambers.”

I rolled my eyes. I saw a hand extend towards me and I looked up to see who it belonged to. She was so fucking hot. She had gray eyes like I had never seen and reddish brown hair. Her hair was wavy around her shoulders and she looked like she had jus been running. I stared at her lips and could not look away, they were perfect. She was perfect. I grabbed her hand and brushed my lips against her knuckles. She laughed and pulled her hand away.

“Another foolish brute in the kingdom, I see.”

I looked at her and smiled.

“Any man can become foolish when looking at the face of an angel.”

She peered at me and then turned to Ser Piero, who seemed amused by our quick conversation.

“Teacher, do not tell father that I showed up late, it is just…”

She bit her lip, like she was stopping herself from saying anymore. Ser Piero held out his hand and looked at her. She gave a huge sigh and pulled out a scroll from her bra. My jaw dropped and she scowled at me, probably knowing what I was looking at. She turned back to Ser Piero and smiled at him.

“I just wanted to read with my little brother, he is such a good reader.”

Ser Piero pinched the bridge of his nose and shook his head.

“My dear, these scrolls are not to be played with.”

She bowed her head in shame but Ser Piero picked her up by her head up by her chin.

“Do not call him thou brother.”

She nodded and hugged him. He turned to me.

“Do thou need a place to stay?”

I shook my head.

“The king has provided a room for my brother and I.”

His eyes got wide and the girl looked at me.

      “The king?”

I turned to her and nodded.

      “He likes me.”

She laughed.

“The king has shown thou favor? For how long do thou think that shall last?”

I shrugged.

“All I know is that he likes me and he wishes to speak to me sometime, in private.”

She swiped her finger across her throat and laughed.

“To behead thou in private. How can the king show favor to a fool?”

Ser Piero chuckled and I peered at him.

“Maybe thou are the fool, Lady Dionasis.”

She laughed and almost fell of her chair. She was really starting to irritate me now.

“Not with a teacher like Ser Piero.”

I stood up and leaned over to her.

      “He is my teacher too.”

She stood up and our faces were two inches apart. I sucked in my breath. She was so perfect.

      “Since when?”

I smiled and leaned closer. She looked as if she had no reaction to my presence, not even her eyes showed any sense of anything but slight annoyance and anger. I guess that is what happened when you get somehow switched into your ugly as fuck brother’s body.

      “Since now.”

I leaned forward and kissed her, just a peck, on the mouth. I laughed and ran towards the door. Ser Piero was laughing and she stood up scowling at me with pure hatred. I blew a kiss to her and spoke.

“See you tomorrow for our first lesson together.”

I walked out with a huge smile on my face. This was going to be fun.
